RE: Fort Frances Office of the Clerk Receives Councillor Resignation
Today, Municipal Clerk Gabrielle Lecuyer of Fort Frances provided receipt of the official resignation of Councillor Mandi Olson, effective immediately.
The resignation triggers a process outlined in the Municipal Act section 262 (1), which stipulates that in the event of a council member vacancy as per section 259, the council is mandated to declare the office vacant at its subsequent meeting. In adherence to this provision, the Fort Frances Town Council is slated to convene on October 28, 2024, where the vacancy declaration will be on the agenda.
Municipal Clerk Gabrielle Lecuyer is currently drafting a comprehensive report that will be presented to the Town Council during the October 28th meeting. This report will delineate the subsequent steps to be taken and explore the various options available to address the vacancy.
Further updates and developments regarding this matter will be communicated following the Town Council meeting.
