2022 Citizen of the Year!

At the Committee of the Whole meeting held on Monday November 28, 2022, Mayor Andrew Hallikas presented the 2022 Citizen of the Year award to Mr Bill Michl.

Bill is a truly remarkable man, whose passion for our community and compassion for people has been known and appreciated in Fort Frances and beyond for many, many years.

He has been a dedicated member of the Voyageurs Lions Club for over 15 years, has organized the Polar Plunge since 2003, and has been a board member of the Valley Adult Learning for over 10 years.

He has run to raise money for our local hospital, Lions International and the Arthritis Foundation.

"Bill shovels snow, and provides transportation to the elderly for their out of town doctor's appointment. He cuts grass, changes door locks, guts bathrooms to fix leaks, the list goes on and on. Bill is an amazing person who gives of himself and asks nothing in return. He deserves this award for all that he does in our community." - Barb Duguay
