Important Notice to Those Planning to Run!

Elections Training and meetings for Zone 9 (northwestern Ontario municipalities) was scheduled May 4th to 6th in Thunder Bay. Both the Returning Officer and Deputy Returning Officer will be unable to accommodate appointments and inquiries on these days.

To book your appointment to submit your name, please call Chelsea at (807) 274-5323 x1212. Appointments will be available starting May 1st.

2026 Municipal Election

The next Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. The current term of Council began November 15, 2022 and will conclude on November 14, 2026.

Elections for Municipal government are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October.  The Town of Fort Frances Council consists of seven members, one Mayor and six Councillors.​

May 1, 2026 to August 21 2026 by 2pm - Nomination Period.

August 24, 2026 - Nominations Certified

August 21, 2026 by 2pm - Withdrawal of Nomination

October 26, 2026 - Voting Day

October 27, 2026 - Voting Results

November 16, 2026 - Appointment of new Mayor and Council

November 23, 2026 - First Regular Meeting of the new Mayor and Council

Voter list and school support

You can visit Elections Ontario to update your information for provincial, municipal and DSSAB elections in Ontario. You will need to provide proof of identity and eligibility to vote which will be reviewed by Elections Ontario.
