WHEREAS, the month of September is recognized across Canada as Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the strength and resilience of individuals on their journey of recovery from addiction, mental health challenges, and trauma; and

WHEREAS, Recover Month brings awareness to the importance of accessible support, community connection, and the power of lived experience in inspiring hope and healing; and

WHEREAS, the Empower2Recover Foundation has made it their mission to bring recovery conversations to the forefront by organizing powerful events that create safe spaces for stories of transformation, education, and encouragement; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Fort Frances proudly acknowledges the importance of supporting recovery efforts and promoting a message of compassion, dignity, and second chances for all; and

WHEREAS, Fort Frances’ Battle for Recovery Day, presented by the Empower2Recover Foundation on September 23, 2026 at La Place Rendez Vous, will once again bring together inspiring speakers, community members, service providers, and advocates to shine a light on the reality that recovery is possible; and

WHEREAS, raising the E2RF flag serves as a symbolic gesture of solidarity, hope, and commitment to individuals and families affected by addiction and mental health struggles in our community.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Michael Behan, Deputy Mayor of the Town of Fort Frances, do hereby proclaim September 22, 2026 as Fort Frances Battles For Recovery Day in the Town of Fort Frances and encourage all residents to recognize and support the power of recovery.

AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that the E2RF flag be raised in recognition of those who continue to battle and overcome the challenges of addiction and mental health, and to stand with those still on their journey.
