COVID-19 Response

The Town of Fort Frances Emergency Management Control Group met at 2PM on Friday March 13, 2020 to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic.

At this time, the Control Group is actively monitoring the situation, and will be meeting regularly to ensure that the community is able to provide an appropriate and timely response.

Residents who are concerned that they may have COVID-19 are advised to contact the Northwestern Health Unit at 1-807-468-7109 or Telehealth Ontario 1-866-797-0000 to receive assistance. Those looking for more information are advised to visit the Northwestern Health Unit, and Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care websites.

Residents are advised to:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly and often.
  • To cough and sneeze into your sleeve or a tissue, then dispose of the tissue and wash your hands.
  • Stay home when you are sick.

At the present time, activities at Town of Fort Frances facilities will continue as normal. Town of Fort Frances is following the recommendation of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health to cancel any events with over 250 people. However, as this is a constantly developing situation, this may be subject to adjustment, and the Town of Fort Frances will be providing information to the public should there be a change in operations.

We strongly encourage residents to follow all recommendations provided to them by our public health professionals and practice social distancing as much as possible to manage the spread of the novel coronavirus.
