RE: New Interim Fire Chief

The Town of Fort Frances is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Interim Fire Chief, effective April 22, 2024 as per the By-law 30-24 enacted by Mayor and Council.

Following a thorough selection process, Dave Robertson has been appointed to lead the Town of Fort Frances Fire Department in this interim capacity. With Chief Robertson’s extensive experience, knowledge, and dedication to fire safety, we’re confident of the high caliber of leadership he will undoubtedly bring to this role.

Chief Robertson started his fire service career by joining the Lion’s Bay Fire Rescue volunteer department in British Columbia and continued his fire journey by spending most of his 25-year career across five different departments and two countries – from busy urban systems to wildland to rural/semi-rural. He has worked as a firefighter, fire/paramedic, Captain, Chief of Training, and Fire Chief. He consults and speaks on incident command, character in the fire service, and retention and recruitment.

The newly appointed Interim Chief has seamlessly integrated into the role, working closely with our fire services to ensure the utmost adherence to standards in fire prevention, preparedness, and response. Additionally, he recognizes the persistent requirement for volunteer firefighters, and encourages those individuals wanting a challenge and the want to make a difference in their community to seize upon this opportunity and contact Chief Robertson about applying.

Please join us in officially welcoming Chief Robertson as Interim Fire Chief of the Town of Frances. We are confident that Chief Robertson will continue to uphold the values of excellence and professionalism that define our fire department.
