Re: National Volunteer Week
April 14th to 20th is National Volunteer Week, with this year’s theme being Every Moment Matters. In explanation of the theme, from Volunteer Bénévoles Canada “It highlights the importance of every volunteer and each contribution they make at a moment when we need support more than ever. The sharing of time, skills, empathy, and creativity is vital to the inclusivity, strength, and wellbeing of our communities.” We at the Town of Fort Frances completely agree with this sentiment.
Our municipality is incredibly lucky to have so many dedicated individuals of all ages that contribute to this community. Mayor Hallikas says it best: “Volunteers are the backbone of any community. I am so very grateful for all of the devoted, involved volunteers who make the Town of Fort Frances and our community a better place to live, work, and play for all of us.”
To demonstrate our appreciation for all of those who so positively impact our municipality, members of Council and employees will in return be volunteering their time. “The Town of Fort Frances will be saying thank you to those who volunteer at the annual Volunteer Appreciation barbeque, held at the sportsplex on April 19th” says Hallikas.
Are you a volunteer? Come to see us at Memorial Sports Centre Friday, April 19th, 2024 during National Volunteer Week where we’ll have a free barbecue lunch from 11:30am to 1:30pm. We’d like to also mention the Kiwanis Club, one of our area charitable groups who do so much for Fort Frances, for donating the use of their barbecue and propane so we can host this event.
A last message from Mayor Hallikas, “On behalf of the Town of Fort Frances, its council, administration, and staff, I would like to thank all of the wonderful, dedicated volunteers who so generously give of their time and talents, for the benefit of everyone, no matter where you live.”
