Getting Married by a Town of Fort Frances Officiant

Currently not booking weekend, evening weddings due to short staffing.

The Town of Fort Frances is pleased to provide marriage services, please review the Civil Marriage Ceremony Services Guidelines, Information and Planning Package.

Local Officiants List: The Clerk's Department recommends also checking the availability of other local officiants. A list of names is available upon request from the Clerks Department.

Booking: To book a Civil Marriage Ceremony with the Town of Fort Frances officiants, you are recommended to do so as early as possible.

Call the Clerk's ahead to make sure the wedding date is available.
Complete the Civil Marriage Ceremony Services Guidelines, Information and Planning Package.
Make an appointment with the Clerk's department to complete the wedding package.
Pay the full amount of fees to complete booking.

Location Options:

Council Chambers during weekdays, after hours, and weekends.
Town of Fort Frances
Outside Town of Fort Frances dependent on the comfort level of the officiant, and provided it is not outside the Province of Ontario.

Please Note: Performing weddings outside of the Council Chambers and regular work hours (off-location as well as after hours and on weekends) is not obligatory for the Municipal Clerk and Deputy Clerk. These services are discretionary and are scheduled independently by the Clerks, contingent upon their individual schedules.

Fees: Per By-Law 89-2-3-A, the following fees plus applicable HST to book an Marriage Ceremony with a Town Officiant are as follows:

$100 Administrative Fee
$250 Ceremony Fee in Council Chambers during office hours performed by the Clerk or designate
$350 Ceremony Fee at all other locations plus mileage in accordance with the Town's Travel Policy
$75 Rehearsal Fee (optional)
$25 per Witness Fee (if the Town is to provide witnesses for a Council Chamber wedding during the day)

Officiants: Learn more about your Town of Fort Frances Officiants here. If you have a preference you may let us know, otherwise they will determine together if they are able to conduct your ceremony. Additionally, each member may be able to serve as a backup for the other in case of emergencies.
