Inclusive Marriages

Same-Sex Marriages

In Canada, same-sex marriages have been legally recognized since 2005. Couples, regardless of gender, can get married.

Same-Sex Marriages in Other Countries

While Canada has made strides in recognizing same-sex marriages, not all countries have legalized them. Please check their regulations around same-sex marriages if you're planning on getting married in another country. Same-sex partners from other countries that want to have a legally binding marriage ceremony are of course welcome to do so in the Town of Fort Frances and in the rest of Canada.

Town of Fort Frances Inclusive Marriages

Our Town Clerks are dedicated to serving all members 18 years and older of our community, including 2SLGBTQ+ couples. If you're interested in having a civil ceremony provided by a Town officiant, we are here to help give you your special day. Note: Availability is dependent on the availability of the Town Clerks.

As well, if you have preferred pronouns and language (ie. they/their, husband, wife, partners, etc.), please feel comfortable in letting your officiant know! We're here to help give you the wedding of your dreams, in the inclusive language that makes you most comfortable.
